Illovo Sugar embarked on a transformative journey to revolutionise their safety training.
To do this, they introduced a new safety brand called IllovoSafe. However, while implementing
the roll-out of this, the world was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, which prevented face-to-face
and traditional learning interventions. In search of a digitised solution, Illovo partnered with
WinWin and I•WIN to craft an e-learning programme that addressed the challenges posed by the
pandemic and their evolving work structure.
We were tasked with building a comprehensive Safety, Health, Environment, Risk and Quality (SHERQ) induction program that could be implemented across all operations and countries for Illovo Sugar Africa. The induction would need to cover mandatory SHERQ training and assessments while targeting specific information applicable to these 3 audiences:
The core objective of the SHERQ induction program is to achieve a standardised understanding
and approach across the business. This included 6 African countries!
We needed to consider the road ahead and build a solution that could meet the following
parameters:
To fulfil this need, WinWin developed an engaging e-learning solution that made use of
multimedia-based learning tools that were tailored and segmented across the type of learner and
type of operation to communicate the right content to the right audience. Each learning tool used
reading, visual and auditory learning styles to connect with each audience.
This content was then housed on the I•WIN Learning Experience Platform (LXP) to ensure learner
progress was tracked and reportable by the Illovo business. While the platform adopted intuitive
navigation to enhance learning engagement and ensure that employees with low computer
literacy could still be equipped through a digital solution, WinWin also provided tools for offline or
remote use if needed.
