Transforming Workforce Training Across the African Continent

OLA Energy, together with WinWin revolutionised staff training through the OLA Energy Online Academy. Hosted on I•WIN, this interactive blended learning solution has overcome language barriers, varying literacy levels and logistical challenges. Standardised training has been delivered to over 11000 staff members, in three languages, across 11 African countries.

OLA Energy is a leading distributor of petroleum products throughout Africa, operating in 17 markets. OLA was looking to standardise training across its retail network to ensure compliance and to upskill their dealers and site staff.
We created the OLA Energy Online Academy hosted on I•WIN, which is an engaging and interactive blended learning solution.

The challenge

The OLA Energy retail network extends across several countries. Their staff speak diverse languages and possess different levels of computer skills and online access. Their existing training programmes were all in-person, taking dealers more than 3 days to complete. When training was administered, it was ad-hoc without a standardised framework, making tracking difficult.

They needed a solution to train all 1,000 head office employees and their 10,000 staff members in a way that would ensure consistency, quality and efficiency across all 17 countries.

The solution needed to ensure that:

  • • Every staff member got the same level of training.
  • • Staff members were tested to ensure competency in their roles.
  • • Training would cater for low literacy levels across the various countries.
  • • The training was accessible in the major languages of the companies reach.

The solution

The I•WIN team, working with the I•WIN platform, proposed the development of a digital immersive learning academy. Learning was housed on the I•WIN LXP, where the content was broken into multiple modules, allowing learners to access focused information required for their job specific roles.

This learning was also translated and made available in the required languages for training, starting with: English, French and Arabic
